The first Christmas wasn't this pristine, pefect moment. It was in fact, chaotic, messy and even scandalous.

Looking back through the family tree of Jesus, we find that of the 12 sons of Jacob, Joseph seemd the right branch of the tree for Jesus to come from. Yet he came through the family of Judah, who's life is marked with many mistakes.

In Part 4 of Unexpected Guests, Pastor Remy takes a look at how God works in the messy parts of our lives to make something remarkable. Best of all, nobody is excluded to be a part of His story.

In part 3 of our Unexpected Guests series, Pastor Kyle looks at the overwhelming evidence in the bible that no matter what you've done or where you've been, God will keep his promise to you.

In the second part of our Unexpected Guests series, Pastor Sten looks at another person in the family tree of Jesus. Her name: Rahab the Prostitute. 

Often society or even ourselves will give us labels such as the one Rahab had attached to her. Perhaps you have a label that makes you believe that you can never be loved by God? If so, this is the message for you as Pastor Sten looks at how God doesn't judge us by our labels, but judges us by our hearts.

Shake any family tree and you never know what kind of people might fall out. Let's face it, we all have an uncle or cousin who's a little questionable. We all have a relative or two we'd never expect to show up at the family Christmas get together. No surprise there.

But here's something you may not know.

Jesus had a few shady characters in his family as well. Actually, he had some relatives that make your most wayward cousin look like a saint. In "Unexpected Guests" you'll be introduced to a few of these colorful characters and the role they play in the Christmas Story.

This is Part 1 of this exiciting new series.

Sometimes it's hard to believe in God because he doesn't come through for you. You feel abandoned and decide that either God doesn't exist or he doesn't care. Remy looks at the pre-birth story of Jesus to see the faithfulness of God and how he is the God who doesn't let us go.

We live in a world that is becoming increasingly harder to trust in what we are reading, what we are seeing or what we are hearing. With all of the hoax news stories on the web and people spinning their own tales, we are always asking ourselves, "Is someone trying to pull a fast one on me here?" 

All these hoaxes have lead many to ask, "How can I trust what is said in the Bible or the church?" Pastor Sten digs into the book of Luke and examines how trustworthy the written word truly is.

It's easy to be a skeptic. But it takes work to look at the evidence for faith. Remy looks at the words of Luke as he starts to reveal the evidence for Jesus as God's messiah.

Pastor Remy kicks off this new sermon series by looking at dealing with the doubts we feel when it comes to our faith. Is doubting automatically a disqualification for being a Christian? Absolutely not. Pastor Remy looks at how doubt can be fertile soil in which to grow your faith and is nothing to be ashamed about.

Remy addresses the sensitive topic of abuse by defining abuse, explaining five types of abuse, and giving a biblical overview of abuse and God's answer for it.

Remy finishes up the current series on Starting Over by offering practical advice on forgiveness. One of the reasons people struggle with forgiveness is they don't fully understand what it is or how to go about offering it.

Many of us are looking to start something over again—a relationship, a new job, a new career, a sober life, or just a new school year with the kids-- because of a decision or a series of decisions that we made which left us wondering, “What was I thinking?”

We all make mistakes. When we do, we start over. But we often sabotage our start-overs. In this opening message, Remy looks at the five myths of starting over and offers the first of four principles for a successful fresh start.

There are things you can DO to help your stress. But there are also things to KNOW that will help your stress as well. The final life app in our summer series helps us unlock the power to reverse the toxic levels of dysfuntion in some of the places and spaces we navigate everyday! 

We are all designed to navigate life with others, however the direction and quality of our lives are impacted, for better and worse, by the people we go through life with.  This week we looked at how our true friends make us better in the areas of life that matter most.

This week we explored Life App #4, Trust. In this message we explored that the truth about trust, is that trust is up to you.  We cannot control other people or their actions.  However, we can choose to assume the best in others, and choose to trust no matter how difficult the situation.

Have you ever felt like there are just not enough hours in the day? More to get done than you can possible handle, stressed out, overwhelmed, and on the verge of just giving up? I think we all have.  God gave us Life App #3 Rest, to help us deal with these situations. God modeled the idea of Rest through creation and the life of Jesus.  A rested heart is a ready heart, ready to love and serve.

When it comes to the practice of confession, I don't think we always get it right.  Over time, I think we've turned confession into something it's not.  As a result, we don't quite deal with the sin in our life the way we should.  We'll take a look at the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 to see what confession truly looks like.

The cross is a constant reminder to us that we are forgiven people.  But why then, are we so slow to forgive people who have hurt or wronged us? Week 2 of this series looks at how we appply forgiveness to our everyday in order to free ousleves from the grudges we hold against people who have hurt us in the past.

What good is hearing if you aren't doing? The Bible is full of great life lessons, but they cannot help us if we do not apply them to our lives.  In this series opener Pastor Kyle shares the importance of Applying God's teaching to our everyday lives.

Easter week was a week of turnaround for Jesus. He went from being named king to being crucified in just a few days. Our lives can experience turnarounds as well. How do we handle our trials? Remy explores this question.

When we do something for God, it often involves money. But church people often have trouble talking about money. Remy looks at how we can talk about money in way that's contructive and not weird so we can do things for God.
